Focus On The Solution, Not The Problem

No matter who you are, how much money you have, or where you’re from, life at times, will undoubtedly give you a gut check. We all have them, both big and small. But when problems do arise, I want to give you a blueprint on how to conquer them using these three Bulletproof steps:

Identify what you can control:

Many problems in our lives seem to just show up out of nowhere. Take, for example, COVID-19. Six months ago you probably hadn’t even heard of the Coronavirus. Yet, today we find ourselves in the midst of one of the worst pandemics in nearly a century. None of us asked for this, yet most of us are now dealing with it in some form or fashion. So, what can we do about it? Although it may be too big for any one person to handle, that doesn’t mean we don’t have control over it on an individual level. You have power and thus influence by taking control of your space – practicing proper social distancing, diligently washing your hands, and focusing on maintaining a healthy immune system. Never underestimate the power you do have no matter how overwhelming the situation seems.

Accept your present situation:

Right now, life probably looks drastically different than many of us imagined it would heading into summer. And as much as we all wish things would return to normal, the reality is that’s likely not going to happen for some time. Your present situation is where you find yourself NOW. And so, it’s from here that you must begin. Take inventory of everything around you: your professional opportunities, social interactions, and personal well being. Do any of them need adjusting? If so, you must see them from where you are currently, not where you wish you were or where you may have been several months ago. I’m a firm believer that one door doesn’t close without another one opening, but in order to see it, you must know to look for it.

Turning problems into possibilities:

Don’t surrender, but rather innovate. Turn crisis into opportunity. It’s important to remember that maintaining the right perspective is the key to overcoming obstacles. For instance, if one of the problems you’re facing is your gym is closed, what’s preventing you from getting into excellent shape at home? With a quick “bodyweight exercises” Google search and a little imagination, you may find yourself reaching a whole new fitness level. For those more serious issues, like the loss of a job, perhaps this is a time to find a job you truly love or have passion for. Or it’s an opportunity to go back to school or change careers altogether. Or maybe it’s time to find new ways to prosper, such as pivoting your business to an on-line platform, updating your resume, or focusing on a new skill set altogether. There’s a choice to make – you can either fear change or embrace it.
