Why Cursing Builds Your Confidence
I hope this message finds you well.
This morning I was telling my friend how I never thought I would write a book - or that it would reach so many people. I never thought I would be offering mentor sessions or writing emails like this.
When my career with the Secret Service came to an end, I just wanted to be a straight up journalist in the media sharing breaking news stories. But you know how it is when you make a plan and then the universe kicks in.
That said, I want you to know my intention with these emails. I believe we all have value to share with each other. The value I want to bring to your life is to elevate you and alter your mindset by showing you how to:
Have more confidence
Be mentally tough
Take ownership over your life
Read people
Feel stronger and more resilient
And more...
In each email I intend to give you at least one thing that brings you closer to being the best version of yourself that you can be.
Today I want to share something that’s empowered me over the years as I’ve strived to push myself and achieve at high levels.
Cursing.
Not too long ago I did a YouTube interview with my friend Lisa Bilyeu on her Women of Impact show.
We got a whole lot of comments like...
“Why does she have to curse so much?”
“Why does she have such a potty mouth?”
I understand that a lot of people think cursing is inappropriate. But science says there’s power in swearing or profanity. For example, if you’re cursing while you’re working out, or going through something intense physically, it helps you better tolerate it.
Swearing also builds up more emotional resilience which is where I found it to help me.
When you drop an F-bomb it allows you to push through, and helps you feel strong rather than victimized. When we feel victimized by our circumstance we also feel more sad, more depressed, and less confident and secure about ourselves. So cursing is not about being vulgar. It’s not about being offensive.
It’s about harnessing your strength and power. It’s about changing the narrative from… “Why is this happening to me?” to “You know what? F&*# this. I’m going to get through this.”
Words impact us. They make us stronger or weaker. If dropping an F-bomb here or there gives you strength then I say use it.
Have a great f*ck&%g day.
Swear if you need to...
And remember how powerful you are.
